Today, there are a lot of different pet crates available and you wish to find one that is suitable for your dog. One main thing to consider is the size of the kennel in proportion to the size of your canine. You don't want it to be so small that your canine can hardly move about, but you wouldn't want it to be too big either. An ideal size is one which allows your pet to fully stretch and allows plenty of head room to fully stand up and turn around in, but one that is still cozy for your dog.

If your pet dog is still a puppy, you may have to think about purchasing a smaller sized crate for now and a large one when he grows to full size. Even better, look for a kennel with a divider. A divider enables you to make it bigger as the dog grows. Along with sizing, there are a variety of different items available today.

Hard plastic models are popular as well as a design that is essential for air travel. These styles are plastic on the top, bottom, and sides, and have a metal gate on the entrance. Plastic is generally the kind that the commercial airline requires, and in all probability what you would use for automobile travel since they will be the most shielding for your puppy should a crash or rough roads take place. They might be a little bit secluded because the plastic on the top and sides isn't going to allow a great deal of room for your dog to look out. Then again, your dog might like this because it provides a rather personal area. They're fantastic for dog crate training.

Aluminum and wire kennels tend to be the designs which are used in boarding kennels. You may also notice them at dog events. They are basically wire throughout and in addition they most often have a plastic tray which you put inside so your puppy isn't standing on the wire which might really injure his feet. They are also not good to have as a standing crate at home since they are extremely flexible. They are generally made of some kind of nylon material using zippers on the top and a front zippered "door" which you can use to take your furry friend out and in. They are wonderful improvements to the dog crate family when you have a properly trained pet, but they are not advised for initial training, especially for pets that love to chew.
