Ideally it is better to purchase metal dog crates if you have to use them at home, Metal crates are durable and have a long life and hence are best suited for your pet. Whereas, the plastic crates are the best when you need to transfer your pet from one place to another. The main reason being that the plastic dog crates are light in weight. Depending on the age and the size of your pet, you need to decide on the size of the crate.
