The most commonly available style of plastic dog crate is a box-style, rectangular enclosure with hard sides and an open end that includes a wire door. The sides feature ventilation holes for both safety and comfort, and the top generally has an attached handle that makes it easy to carry the enclosure. Some models also include a compartment on top for food and a water bowl. The top and bottom halves are usually separate pieces held together with easily removable screws, so that the top can be taken off either to help remove the animal or to easily clean the inside of the cage. However, some manufacturers have designed more advanced models.
