Why a Dog Exercise Pen Should Not Be Used For Exercise!
Although it's called a dog exercise pen, it is not really to be used for exercise as it is not big enough, but is more a containment area that will keep your dog in a safe and protected environment. Dogs should always be exercised on a regular basis and a dog excise pen is not a substitute for regular exercise.
The pen links together to form a containment area where your dog can play and relieve themselves without you having to worry about them escaping or coming to harm.
The main use for a dog exercise pen is for puppy training and for times when you have to go out and you do not want to leave your dog free to roam. When inside the pen the dog is completely contained in a secure environment.
Dog exercise pens come in a variety of sizes, so even if you have limited space there will be a pen that will suit your requirements. If you are fortunate enough to have a large area, joining 2 dog exercise pens together makes for a superb area for your pet.

They need to be portable so they fold away flat to a fraction of their original size enabling them to be stored against a wall or shed.
When researching for a dog exercise pen you want to make sure that they are made of a good quality heavy gauge wire with a gauge of 6 or 7. (The smaller the number the thicker the wire).
Also make sure that there are no exposed screws wire or pins that your dog could catch themselves on.
Having a separate access panel is a must. You want to be able to have easy access to your dog and not have to climb over any panels. The door panel should have a good locking mechanism to prevent your pet from escaping.
Check out some review sites to see what size pen would suit your breed of dog. The height of the dog exercise pen needs to be high enough to stop them jumping over, but low enough to allow you to pet your dog.
If you have a large dog, choose a pen with corner stabilisers which will give it extra stability if the dog jumps up.
